Message from the Minister for Health, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

"As we advance our health reform agenda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provision of safe and accessible blood remains a top priority. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Blood Transfusion Authority (KPBTA) is the guardian of this mission, ensuring that every drop of blood transfused in our province—from the hospitals of Peshawar to the most remote districts—meets the highest clinical standards.

Under the National Blood Policy (2025-2030), we are modernizing our infrastructure through the expansion of Regional Blood Centers (RBCs) in Peshawar, Abbottabad, and D.I. Khan. These centers serve as hubs of excellence, utilizing advanced screening technologies to eliminate risks such as Hepatitis and HIV. Our goal is to move away from replacement donation and achieve a sustainable supply through 100% voluntary blood donation.

I urge all private and public healthcare facilities to cooperate fully with the KPBTA’s licensing and inspection protocols. To our citizens, especially the youth of KP, I invite you to join our 'Save a Life' initiative. Your voluntary contribution is the foundation of a healthy, resilient Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Together, we will ensure that no patient in our province is left vulnerable due to the lack of safe blood."

"Ensuring the safety and efficacy of blood transfusions is a cornerstone of our commitment to public health. The Blood Transfusion Authority (BTA) serves as the vital guardian of these standards, regulating the collection, testing, and distribution of blood products across our region.

Our primary goal is to eliminate transfusion-transmitted infections and ensure that every citizen has access to safe blood when they need it most. By enforcing rigorous quality controls and promoting voluntary blood donation, we are building a more resilient healthcare system.

I urge all clinical facilities to adhere strictly to BTA guidelines and encourage our citizens to become regular blood donors. Together, we can save lives and uphold the highest bars of medical excellence."

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Blood Transfusion Authority (KP-BTA) is the statutory regulatory body responsible for regulating, coordinating, and overseeing blood transfusion services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
